Diabetes is a common health problem faced by young and adults all across the world. These are group of diseases, which include issues like high blood sugar levels. For healthy living, every cell inside your body is supposed to function right taking some energy from the body. A health pancreas will produce good amount of hormones known as insulin. When you consume food, insulin is released inside your bloodstream, which further allows distributing glucose inside your whole body. It also help in moving extra amount of glucose inside your liver for storage. Without insulin you can find the glucose to be useless, which make your body starve for energy. This can lead to a number of health issues like stroke, blindness, and health problems. Thus managing the sugar level is important, which is disturbed when people get ailments like diabetes. There different types of diabetes and each one are linked with insulin and blood glucose. Let’s check the common as under:

Type 1 Diabetes

This type of diabetes is a disorder wherein the pancreas fails to produce the required amount of insulin for your body. This is also known as juvenile diabetes and can be even referred as insulin dependent diabetes mellitus. There is hardly any cure for the same. If you are suffering from it you need to survive on taking insulin.

In such kind of diabetes, the pancreas are unable to produce insulin, however, this may not be enough. Some people are seen producing insulin; however, the body really fails to use them effectively.  Not all but some are required to take insulin with this kind of diabetes as most of the time, this can be managed easily with making a couple of changes in lifestyle.

Let’s check some facts and figures in terms of prevalence and incidences:

As per the health agency CDC (Centres for Disease Control & Prevention) based in the US, one out of 10 people in US people have diabetes. As per reports, the figure by the end of 2015 would be double. By the end of 2012 the country had 13.4 million women suffering from this menace, which is the figure of National Diabetes Report, while the same report suggests that 15.5 million men are suffering in US alone from this menace. The same reports suggest that 86 million US citizens have signs for Type 1 & Type 2 diabetes in the country. Type 2 diabetes comprises of 90 percent of the diabetes cases in the US claims the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. People under the age group of 20 too are seen suffering from the issue of Type 1 diabetes.

The following are the other countries with most of the Type 1 & Type 2 Diabetes cases:

China has the highest with 98.4 million people suffering from both the types, while India goes at the second position with 65.1 million people. Next is US, Brazil, Russian Federation, which are reported with 24.4, 11.9 and 10.9 million respectively. The countries at the bottom four include Indonesia, Germany, Egypt and Japan with a figure of 8.5, 7.6, 7.5 & 7.2 million respectively.

Anyone can get Type 1 diabetes; however, it is often diagnosed during the childhood, while only 5 percent of people are seen with it during the adulthood. The cause to this problem is still unknown and it has no cure as well. Talking about the Type 2, it comes after the factor of age. People beyond the age of 40 are more prone to this disorder especially the ones with family history or facing the issue of obesity.  Also, there are certain ethnicities, which are more prone to develop Type 2 diabetes. These include Americans, Africans, Hawaiian, Asian Americans, Native Americans, Latino Americans, etc.

    I had only blurry vision and slow wound healing, none of the “classic” symptoms of thirst, weight loss, etc. So I guess that’s something for people to consider–symptoms can be very subtle.
